Just so I'm clear, do you write a batch file, then have someone download
the batch file AND the initial install jar, then run the batch file
that will perform the "java -jar install.jar" command?

If this is what you're doing, I was just looking into self-extracting
archives and found information on how to do that for Unix and Windows.
It would mean a different install.jar for each os, since it means
adding a special header for Windows and a different one for Unix. (The
method used for Unix uses standard commands like "tail" so I'd think
there's a good chance it'd work on the Mac as well.)

If you're interested, I can post links to some pages on it. I'll be
testing it soon and I'll be glad to post my results.
