I comitted to branches/branch-3.8-automation-fixes . It's nothing
experimental, just breaking backwards compatibility... Unfortunately,
there are also some automation fixes in there - nobody seems to use that
feature at all (PacksPanel automation was broken, so automated
installation didn't work at all).

I seem to have managed merging the fixes to trunk too. B-)
