[izpack-users] OS dependant installers

Hi all,

IzPack is very convenient for cross-platform software distribution and
we've thus developed an installer for Art of Illusion
(http://www.artofillusion.org). However, we need to deliver native
libraries with the software, namely Jogl (java open GL). Binaries for
Linux (i586, AMD64) and Windows (i586) sum up to about 7Mb, much greater
than the about 3Mb the soft takes by itself.

We decided the overhead would be too much for dialup users and split
installer in Windows only and Linux only installers. I couldn't see
anyway of having OS installers with IzPack at compile time rather then
install time (something like compile -os=windows) which would ignore
files pertaining to other OSs. This feature would have enabled us to
keep a single master .xml file rather than have two, one for each OS.

Another point is to have OS dependent panels such as HtmlInfoPanel, but
I don't know how to sepcify the resource for HtmlInfoPanel depending on
the OS the installer is being run on.
