[izpack-users] JRE version issues

Hi,
I'm using IzPack 3.9.0 together with IzPack native launcher 1.3 to make an
installable windows executable. When the native launcher starts it prompts
the user to install a JRE if none is found, but I'm facing some problems
when the user has an old JRE (I need Java 1.5+):
a) When the user has Java 1.3 installed the native launcher detects it but
IzPack fails to start. I suppose that this is due to the Main-Class entry in
the MANIFEST.MF of the installer jar, that I think was added to Java 1.3.
b) When the user has Java 1.5 izPack complains that Java 1.5 is needed (due
to my restriction in <javaversion>) but no JRE is offered to the user.
I think that the ideal solution would be that the javaversion restriction
could be indicated to the native launcher, so it would offer the embedded
JRE to the end user (if included), or at least direct him to the download
page. Is there any possibility to get this 'feature' in a future release?
This restriction could be used by IzPack itself to request Java 1.3 at least
and solve a). Today requesting only for any JRE is often not enough, a
minimum java version is very common.
Another problem is that the message that IzPack shows to the end user when
the <javaversion> restriction fails cannot be translated. Could it be moved
to the language packages?
Regards,
Jose M.
