Hi Klaus,
You seem to be quite knowledgeable so I would like to ask you
one more thing. I have defined a user input panel and I have a search
field, defined the following way:
<field type="search" variable="webapp_directory">
<spec txt="Application server web applications
directory:" type="directory"
result="directory" id="input-webapp-dir">
<choice value="${ENV[CATALINA_HOME]}/webapps"/>
</spec>
</field>
IzPack does not pick the CATALINA_HOME environment.

Hi Vasil,
sorry, $INSTALL_PATH is a very special variable which
will be modified a secound time after loading variables (in opposite to
all others). Therefore changing via <variable> will not work. But if you
would use as root the default you can change the subpath with:
<info>
...
<appsubpath>My App/$APP_NAME $APP_VER</appsubpath>
</info>
In opposite to the "normal" variable setting this
approach uses variable substitution.
Hope it will be work now
Klaus

Hi Vasil,
you can change the contents of any
variable in a custom action or custom panel or with <variable> in the
installation description file (often named install.xml) because
variables are not write protected and built-in variables are resolved at
starting installation before resolving values given by <variable>.
Build-in variables are created to get
special information about the current system. If you override this,
these information are away.

built-in variables
Hi all,
I want to ask if it is possible to
override a built-in variable (e.g. $INSTALL_PATH). I need to customize
my installation but I do not want to
specify anoter variable for the install
path since it is referenced in many places in my configuration files.
Thannks in advance
Regards, Vasil
